Peter Miles


Peter Miles a.k.a. Peter Kanyike Miles was born on
29th September 1980 and grew up in a Peter Mileswar infested region of Uganda in East Africa. He lost lots of relatives and friends to the insurgence in the region at the time. During the early years of his childhood, Peter Miles was exposed to the brutalities of the war from surviving on one meal a day to lack of the basic needs of life during the Post Idi Amin era.

Despite the hardships, Peter Miles managed to attain formal education and he holds a bachelor’s degree in tourism and Airways Travel from Makerere University Uganda, The most prestigious university in the region. It’s after graduation that Peter Miles chose to pursue a musical career in order to bring back hope to the hopeless that have gone through the same hardships.

During his musical career he has worked with artists like, General Levy of the incredible fame from London, 2face from Nigeria, Swahili nation,Elephant man and Spice from Jamaica. His music is a blend of Ragga/reggae with a local African feel, which includes local languages like Luganda, Swahili mixed with English, which he calls African reggae dancehall. Peter Miles has shared stage with many acclaimed stars including,Bono,R.Kelly Wyclef Jean, T.O.K., Buju Banton, Kevin Little, Brick and Lace, Assasin, Elephant man and many more. He has performed in various cities around Africa Europe and the U.S.A.

Peter Miles2005 February 22nd MTV launched the first pan-African music channel ‘MTV base Africa’. Peter Miles is one of the pioneer artists in Africa selected to feature on the channel right from the start and was selected to perform at the channel’s launch in Uganda. In the same year his track ”Owange” featured as the title track on an international African reggae compilation by a German based record company called Outhere records.

It’s in the same year that he was selected to be the Motorolla celebrity brand ambassador for Uganda.

Miles has won various awards in Africa including… Best Ragga artist/group PAM AWARDS for 2 years (UGANDA) Best Ragga dancehall video Channel O awards (SOUTH AFRICA) Best Dancehall Video Kisima awards (KENYA) On the 7th June 2007, Peter Miles was the only artist from East and Central Africa selected to perform at the anti G8 summit concert code named the”P8 concert” in Rostock”Germany alongside big European bands like U2, Bono, Bob Geldolf, Seed, Africa’s Youssou N’dour and many others.
